Miller was born on September 21, 1966. Her mother was a dance teacher, which naturally, attracted her towards dancing and choreography. Even during her school days, she studied dance and choreography. She also attended charm school.
She started her dancing career at an early age. Due to her mom’s job as a dance teacher and her own interest, she realized her real talent soon and that was choreography. She preferred to choreograph instead of dancing on the stage. It proved to be a great choice and she founded her own studio named Abby Lee Dance Company or commonly known as ALDC, at age 14. Later she became director of her mother’s studio, which was renamed to Reign Dance Productions in 1995.
Thousands of students benefited from her studio and some of them even had a great career in dancing. In 2011 Miller signed for a reality TV show named ‘Dance Moms’ and began to appear in it regularly. It is an ongoing TV show, who just ended its 5th season and 136 episodes are aired till now. In 2012, she appeared in one episode of the TV series ‘Drop Dead Diva’ as ‘Lady Parts’. She produced an episode of ‘Abby’s Studio Rescue’ in 2014. Miller also appeared in 6 episodes of the TV series ‘Entertainment Tonight’.
Miller filed for bankruptcy, In December 2010. She owed about $400,000 in taxes. Later, Dance Moms started in 2011 and in October 2015, Miller was accused and charged for concealing her income. She is also charged with bankruptcy fraud because she concealed about $750K from the authorities.
