He was involved in the Boston Irish Gang war of 1960s and was arrested for murder cases, but was released without any charges. He left Boston and moved to California in 1962, changing his name to Alex Rocco. Rocco then started working as a bartender and took acting lessons from Leonard Nimoy, who referred him to take speech lessons.
Rocco got to prominence with his role of Moe Greene, a Las Vegas casino owner, in The Godfather. He soon became a notable personality in the movie industry and played roles in movies like The Wedding Planner, Smokin’ Aces, A Bug’s Life, That Thing You Do!, to name a few.
He also made appearance in a 12 week drama series Three for the Road and received his first Emmy Award for his appearance on The Famous Teddy Z. Rocco also featured for several animated series lie The Simpsons, Family Guy, etc.
