Amy Schumer was born on 1 June, 1981, Manhattan, New York. She belonged to a rich family until at the age of 9, her family went bankrupt and they moved to Long Island. She went to South Side High School in Rockville Centre, New York. After high school, she attended Towson University and got a degree in theatre. She also studied at William Esper Studio for two years.
At the start of her career, she appeared in a Broadway dark comedy named ‘Keeping Abreast’, in which she played the role of a young woman with a breast cancer. She also started stand-up comedy in 2004. In 2007, she also appeared in an episode of ‘Live at Gotham’ for Comedy Central. She also competed in many stand-up comedy competitions including ‘Reality Bites Back’ in which she got the second position and ‘Last Comic Standing’, in which she came fifth. After a gun shooting incident in Louisiana, she became an advocate of Gun Control laws. She was named Time magazine’s 100 most influential people in 2015. From 2006 to present, Schumer has worked in 5 movies and 20 TV series.
