Cam Newton was born on 11 May, 1989, in Atlanta, Georgia. He went to Westlake High school where he played for Westlake Lions. He was very talented from the start and from his high school performances, he gained the attention of many, major college programs. He was rated five-star by in his senior year and was offered many scholarships. He accepted the offer of University of Florida.

Newton’s college career started when he joined University of Florida. He was doing well there until things went wrong for him when he stole a fellow student’s laptop. He was arrested and was suspended from the university. All the charges were dropped when he completed a pre-trial diversion program. In 2009 Newton transferred to the Blinn College, where he became a star of the team in no time and was a Junior College (Juco) honorable mentions., again rated him as a five start quarterback in junior college category.

In 2010, Newton started the first game for Auburn University and lead his team to a home win over Arkansas State team. In October 2010, Newton completed 3 touchdown passes against Louisiana-Monroe and one of those passes was 94 yards, the longest touchdown pass and offensive play in Auburn football history. He broke many other records in 2010. Some of his records are:

  • SEC record for yards rushing in a season by a quarterback in October 2010.
  • Broke Pat Sullivan’sschool record for most touchdowns in a single season.
  • First SEC player to ever throw for 2,000 yards and rush for 1,000 yards in a single season.
  • SEC Championship Game record for most points scored and largest margin of victory by defeating South Carolina 56-17.

For his great performance in 2010, he won the Heisman Trophy by a clear margin.

In July, 2011, Newton signed a four year contract with Carolina Panthers, worth over $22 million. He made a 422 passing yards record on his debut game in September, 2011. And on his second game for the team, he broke his debut game record with a 432 passing yards. From 2011 to present, he is a key player for his team.
