Chance the Rapper was born on April 16, 1993, as Chancellor Johnathan Bennett in West Chatham, Chicago’s South Side. Chance’s father worked for then-senator Barack Obama and is currently a deputy chief of staff to Mayor Rahm Emmanuel. Chance’s brother, Taylor Bennett, is also a rapper in Chicago.
Chance was interested in music since his young age and during his freshman year, he formed a hip-hop duo Instrumentality with his friend Justin while at Jones College Prep High School. Their early performances were at the YOUmedia Lyricist Loft at Harold Washington Library situated in Chicago.

His first mixtape was received locally and got him connected to producers like Chuck Inglish, Blended Babies and Kenny James$ while he was also featured in Forbes Magazine for the same.

Their daughter was kept out of social media until December 31, 2016, when her father posted a picture of her on Instagram.
In May 2016, after they had stopped living together, Kirsten wanted the courts to declare Chance as the father of their daughter and he would have to pay child support.
