Forbes releases the list of top 10 highest paid actors every year and 2015 is not short of surprises. These actors are in huge tentpole movies every year and they’ve been grossing a lot of wealth with their career in acting.
These stars are paid enormous amounts for their blockbusters and 2015 is no different for them. The list comprises of six actors from US, and three from India, which came out of the bush.
Read through the Forbes list of 10 highest paid actors in the world in 2015.
10. Mark Wahlberg- $32 million
Mark Wahlberg has been doing pretty well for himself lately, with his roles in movies like Transformers: Age of Extinction, which was a box-office hit. Wahlberg is not that kind of actor who looks for serious roles, hoping to become blockbusters, but he fits himself to smaller roles, like in The Fighter (2010) to make a name for himself.
He’s talented, handsome and has acting skills and it’s not just the money he works for. In fact, it’s money that follows him; as he’s a businessman as well. He’s not stuck only with a career in acting and maybe, we’ll get to see him again in the next Transformer’s movie.
9. Akshay Kumar – $32.5 million
Believe me or not, but Akshay Kumar is a new entry in the list of highest paid actors in the world for 2015. He’s been raking in the money with roles in several Bollywood movies in India and has a fanbase comparable to those of top actors in Hollywood.
India has a growing market and that’s what solves the problems of actors like Akshay Kumar in Bollywood who are looking forward to roles in domestic blockbusters, that make them a lot of money.
8. Salman Khan – $33.5 million
The Bollywood’s ‘Bad Guy’, Salman Khan is a commoner in the list of highest paid actors in the world. A talented actor, and a bachelor, Salman Khan has a unique perspective towards his roles in different movies, which despite a bad story, become blockbusters.
He has the largest fan base in India, and his recent movie ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ was a blockbuster. Ranked 8th, he is said to have been paid $33.5 million.
7. Amitabh Bachchan – $33.5 million
Hands down- Amitabh Bachchan is the legend of Bollywood film industry. While he may not be a popular name in US, I don’t think there’s even a child in India who’s not heard or watched Amitabh Bachchan. Despite his old age, Bachchan has been going strong as always and has garnered a lot of success in Bollywood.
There are even possible chances of Amitabh Bachchan to feature in big screens for Hollywood movies, considering his fame and acting skills that puts him 7th in the list of highest paid actors in the world in 2015.
6. Tom Cruise – $40 million
Quite surprisingly, Tom Cruise ranks sixth in Forbes’ list of highest paid actors in 2015, but that should probably chance after the calculations of his recently released movie Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation.
A drop down in the list might probably have occurred after two flops in a row with Jack Reacher and Oblivion, but with the sequel already on theaters, he’s sure to make a jump next year.
5. Adam Sandler – $41 million
Day-in-day-out, I’m surprised how Adam Sandler is able to gross enormous amount of wealth despite series of awful movies. He must have some sort of spell on his audience that stick them to become his fan. He’s a constant fan base who watch his movies despite being terribly awful and his formula of making low budget movies have always worked at the box office.
He was one of the highest paid actors in 2014 and there’ll be no surprise if he features on a similar list next year in 2016.
4. Bradley Cooper – $41.5 million
American Sniper is what took off Bradley Cooper’s jet of wealth. With a cost of $58 million, the movie made a whopping $547 million and that’s what keeps Cooper in the list of highest paid actors in 2015.
Most of his movies are not money-makers and he’s even worked for flops like Aloha, but his talent and skills in acting is getting better with age. We only wish he’d come down with a series of hits next year to be placed among the richie-riches of Hollywood.
3. Vin Diesel – $47 million
Vil Diesel is a heartthrob in Hollywood. He’s the most liked person in Facebook with 94 million fans all around the world and his Fast & Furious franchise is making a lot of money, despite Paul Walker no more after facing death in a car crash in 2013.
Vin Diesel is surely going to be among the highest paid actors in Hollywood, again, by pulling in huge numbers with Furious 8 coming to theaters on April 14, 2017.
2. Jackie Chan – $50 million
I thought Jackie Chan’s career in Hollywood was dead and he’s not making any money from the show-biz industry. But, it’s really surprising to see Chan as the second highest paid actors in the world in 2015 with $50 million.
Jackie Chan has been working on foreign films in his country China, that holds the second largest movie market, one step ahead of Bollywood and behind Hollywood.
1. Robert Downey Jr. – $80 million
Robert Downey Jr. is a beast when it comes to blockbuster movies that garner insane amount of money. Ranking on top of the list of highest paid actors in 2015, Robert Downey Jr.’s roles in movies like Iron Man and The Avengers: Age of Ultron is what earned him $80 million.
The Avengers movie earned $1.39 billion worldwide and there’s no doubt that he’s going to be on top of this list again in 2016, with Captain America: Civil War hitting theaters in 2016.
The show-business is one of the best growing industries around the world and there are lot of actors who’ve made their fortunes out of it. These highest paid actors in the world have put in a lot of effort in their work, day-after-day on several movie projects to entertain people on big and small screens.
