Born on October 1, 1924 in Georgia, Jimmy Carter was a peanut farmer whose life changed drastically after entering to politics. He attended Georgia Southwestern College and served his dream to become a US Navy by attending the US Naval Academy. He graduated 60th out of 820 midshipmen in the class of 1946 and was admitted to the US Navy’s fledging nuclear submarine program in 1952. He resigned his commission and was honorably discharged in 1953.
