Biography, Early Beginnings

Born and raised in Perth, De Vanna started showing strong interest in football from childhood and would always sleep with her soccer ball beside her. As time and years passed by, she started playing football with her brother on the streets, from where she made her way to the Australian women football team.

De Vanna started her professional football career in 2007 at Doncaster Rovers Belles in the English Premier League, from where she moved to Swedish club AIK just after one year.

In 2008, this talented and charming footballer returned to her hometown to play in the W-league for Perth Glory. After recording much success, she proceeded to Washington Freedom in 2009 where she enjoyed an overwhelming support from fans and friends.

Lisa was selected and came 18th in the overall 2008 WPS International Draft. By March 2009, she officially signed with Washington Freedom and played for 3 years eventually laying for its successor magicJack in the WPS as well as Perth Glory, Brisbane Roar and Newcastle Jets in the W-League in Australia.

In 2012, when WPS suspended its operations, Lisa went ahead to sign with Damallsvenskan club Linköpings FC and scored five goals in her first eight games. On the 1st of February 2013, it was announced that De Vanna has signed deals with Sky Blue FC for the inaugural season of the National Women’s Soccer League, which is the top division in the United States.

Sometime in June in the same year, De Vanna was named league player of the week after she scored a bicycle kick goal (but that’s not all). A video of the kick soon went viral as it was carried by YouTube, Soccer sites and a host of other video sites.

Following the popularity of the video, she was voted NWSL Fans’ Choice MVP for Week 8. In October, she joined Melbourne Victory for the 2013–14 W League season.

Early 2014, Sky Blue FC traded De Vanna to the Boston Breakers. They did this in exchange for the 2014 international roster spot and the Breakers’ first-round 2015 college draft pick. When the pick was over, they got Sarah Killion. More exchanges took place until September when it was confirmed that De Vanna had signed to play with Melbourne Victory again. She has shown a lot of prospect for her side ‘Matildas’.

This beautiful and stunning footballer has also made an impressive number of international appearances in football, having played four games at the 2004 Olympic Football Tournament and made 128 appearances for the Australian National Team.

Since 2017, Lisa has been playing for Australian professional soccer club, Sydney FC, and has scored four goals in five appearances.
