Mac Miller was born on 12 January, 1992 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Miller went to Winchester Thurston School and Taylor Allderdice High School. His passion for hip hop started in high school years. He is a self-taught musician and can play guitar, drums and piano.
Miller has been rapping since his high school days, at the age of 14. Before being called Mac Miller, his name was EZ Mac and he released a mix tape in 2007 named ‘But My Mackin’ Ain’t Easy’. He also had a rap group called The III Spoken with a Pittsburgh rapper, Beedie. He released a mix tape named ‘How High’ in 2008 with his band. In the year 2009, he released two mix tape named ‘The Jukebox: Prelude to Class Clown’ and ‘The High Life’. He signed with Rostrum Records in the early 2010 and also competed in Rhyme Calisthenics, where he came fourth at an age of 17.
The big break in Miller’s career came when in fall 2010, he went on his first tour, which was sold everywhere. In the same year, he won 2 awards at Pittsburgh hip hop awards. In 2011, Miller released his mix tape ‘Best Day Ever’. The most famous song in that mix tape was ‘Wear My Hat’. This mixtape was featured by bog producers like Just Blaze and 9th Wonder. In March, 2011, Miller worked with Rostrum Records to release an EP named ‘On And On And Beyond’ containing 6 tracks. Miller also featured in Maroon 5’s famous song ‘Moves Like Jagger’.
Miller’s first studio album, ‘Blue Slide Park’ was released in November, 2011 and came on top of Billboard 200 with first week sales of 144,000 copies. In March, 2012, Miller released seventh mixtape, ‘Macadelic’. Miller’s second studio album, ‘Watching Movies With the Sound Off’ was released in early 2013. His mixtape, ‘faces’ was released in 2014.
In September, 2015, Miller released his third studio album, ‘GO:OD AM’ under Warner Bros, Records.
